Is pornography harmful? Pupils evaluate 8 pieces of real evidence for and against then present their conclusions and reasoning. No pornography is shown in this diversity friendly lesson.

Description

Pornography on Trial, Scottish Edition is the first of our five lessons on Internet Pornography. It’s aimed at 15-18 year olds. You can teach it as a stand-alone lesson. It also works well in combination with Love, Pornography and Relationships, Pornography and Mental Health , Pornography and the Adolescent Brain and The Great Porn Experiment.

You will receive 2 versions of the lesson so you can deliver this as a teacher-led class or in a group work format where the pupils take more control over the evidence-sifting process. All lessons are available together in a bundle and in a super-bundle with sexting lessons.

Pornography on Trial is a fun interactive lesson. It allows pupils to express their emotions and thoughts in a safe space. Pornography is one of the most controversial subjects in our culture today. It also provides access to evidence-based material for HM Inspectors and for parents.

The Reward Foundation has worked with a range of experts including more than 20 teachers. We also engaged with lawyers, police officers, youth and community leaders, psychiatrists, doctors, psychologists and many parents. The lessons align with the requirements of the Curriculum for Excellence. We have piloted the lessons in seven schools across Scotland.
